Mike Robinson is an Industry Vertical Advisor for the Retail and Consumer Goods practice. He provides expert advice regarding digital retailing. Mike brings over 30 years of experience from both management consulting and executive operator perspectives. Currently, Mike is acting as both an angel investor and strategic advisor for numerous early stage AI-enabled startups, specifically focused on critical components of the ever-evolving retail customer journey. In addition, he is the Head of Retail Operations and a Founding Member for The Eighth Notch (aka T8N), an early stage startup in the Logistics-tech space.
Previously, Mike was the EVP/Digital Business Leader for Macy’s, where he and his team were responsible for 10x revenue growth over 8 years, and firmly established Macys.com as the #5 Digital Retailer in the U.S. He also had P&L management responsibility for the multi-billion dollar digital channel and the annual enterprise $300M technology investment portfolio.
In addition, Mike previously held key leadership positions at Gap, helping to reset and reshape their direct to consumer business and drive the overall enterprise technology direction. Coupled with this retail industry experience, Mike has over 15 years experience as a management consultant across various industries and multi-national clients for IBM Business Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Fort Point Partners.
Mike currently serves as an independent director for Vista Outdoor, Inc. (NYSE: VSTO), a leading global designer, manufacturer, and marketer in the outdoor sports and recreation markets with revenues in excess of $2.0 billion. He serves on both the Management Development & Compensation and Nominating & Governance Committees. He is also a volunteer director for the YMCA of San Francisco, chairs the Mission Impact Committee and is one of seven members of the Executive Director leadership group.
