Client's Challenge
Our client is an emerging and rapidly growing Electric Vehicle manufacturer. With no less than seven strategic searches together, there was no other logical choice but to select Level 5 Partners when the requirement turned to Human Resources and Talent Management. Their challenge was to identify a qualified executive who worked in a rapidly growing, chaotic, and fast-paced organization. The selected person would be tasked with developing scalable and straightforward approaches with measurable impact to address the needs of a rapidly growing organization.
This Performance, Careers, and Talent Planning position aimed to design and deliver programs including evaluation, enablement of individuals and crucial performance, career development for all employees, and high potential identification, succession planning, and leadership development for important talent/critical roles.
The challenge to this search was that the client had several mandates established by executive leadership. They included, but were not limited to, location constraints, title and career leveling, equity awards, and a highly competitive market exiting COVID.
Compounding this placement, this search was closed with an accepted and signed offer from the lead candidate. The day-one date was set, and the candidate was planning on starting. At the last minute, the individual backed out of the offer and elected to remain with the current employer. Leaving the client in a challenging position, Level 5 Partners was immediately tasked with assessing those candidates in process and those on a long list of over 202 candidates.

Since Level 5 Partners had partnered with the client on plural placements in the past and both parties were very comfortable with the relationship. After losing the first candidate to a counteroffer from their current employer. Level 5 reprioritized the search and successfully identified a new candidate.
The backup executive was not only close in geography but a hands-on builder. The executive spoke from a position of fact and a “been there and built that” mentality. He smoothly walked me through his career, and you immediately recognized that this position was built for him.
In summary, Level 5 Partners sourced over 300 candidates, rejected 82, researched 64, and made 2 offers, with the second offer accepted.
Impact on the Client
The placement was a critical new position for the head of Talent Management, and time was essential for the company. The candidate is firmly employed and has exceeded expectations with all aspects of their hire.
